Crabtree’s Award-winning Book Reviews:
Read two reviews from Amazon.com:
“Crabtree: Lost Kids from Borealonon is engaging from the first page!
I have two children about the same age as the siblings who are the main characters of this story. The author absolutely nailed the attitudes a teenager can have toward a younger sibling, and vice-versa, in an often-hilarious way. While that was entertaining and very familiar, it was the story and Jane Fitzpatrick’s natural writing style that really pulled me in. It’s a great adventure for kids and adults alike. The author is also an accomplished screenwriter. I predict big things in the near future for this talented writer.” ~ Mark Rickerby, published author
“Crabtree is a truly great adventure book that is a perfect escape not only for children of all ages but also for adults, as this story has so many layers of adventure, emotions, mystery and legends it was hard to put it down. A book highly recommended for everyone. Well done Jane L. Fitzpatrick for such a beautiful story.” ~ Martin M. Nuza, published author, screenwriter, film producer, director, and owner of Martin Nuza Productions

I am very grateful to the International IMPACT Book Awards and the wonderful reviews from Abhay Singh on Goodreads for Crabtree: Lost Kids of Borealonon.
“Crabtree: Lost Kids of Borealonon by Jane L. Fitzpatrick is an exhilarating, action-packed adventure that will captivate readers of all ages, blending mystery, fantasy, and coming-of-age themes into a captivating narrative. The first book in the Crabtree series introduces Sam and his twin sister, Mel, who, much to Sam’s dismay, are uprooted from their familiar life in West Virginia to move with their parents to a small, remote town in Washington State. While everyone else is excited about the change, Sam is anything but thrilled. He’s dreading the isolation and lack of modern comforts no Internet, no cell service, and no skateboard park. But little does he know, this move will lead him into a reality far more thrilling than he could have imagined.”
“Fitzpatrick does a wonderful job of making Sam a relatable protagonist, capturing the frustration and resistance that often accompanies change. His initial reluctance to embrace his new life creates an authentic emotional foundation for the story. Sam’s development throughout the book is both believable and engaging, as he begins to understand that there’s more to life than the things he thought he couldn’t live without.”
“The real magic, however, happens when Sam and Mel stumble upon a mysterious portal that leads them to the mystical world of Borealonon. Fitzpatrick crafts this new dimension with rich, vivid descriptions that feel both magical and haunting. From cave writings that speak of ancient creatures to shimmering lights dancing across crystal-laden rock walls, the world of Borealonon is filled with wonder and danger. The adventure quickly escalates, and Sam and Mel find themselves caught in a whirlwind of action, mystery, and peril as they uncover secrets that could change everything.”
“One of the most striking elements of Crabtree: Lost Kids of Borealonon is the seamless blend of fantasy and reality. While the kids’ adventure in Borealonon feels otherworldly, it is grounded in their own personal growth and the challenges they face in adjusting to their new life. The balance between the fantastical elements and the relatable struggles of adolescence makes this a truly compelling read for young readers and adults alike.”
“The mythology surrounding the character of Oranias, the Goddess of Love, adds another layer of intrigue. Her mysterious presence and the way her essence shapes the world of Borealonon evoke a sense of wonder that leaves readers eagerly wanting more. The intricate details of the world-building from the shifting landscapes to the cryptic stories told through cave writings add depth and mystery to the plot, making the journey all the more exciting.”
“Fitzpatrick’s writing style is engaging and accessible, with a perfect balance of adventure and emotional depth. The pace is quick, and the twists and turns in the plot keep readers on their toes. The characters are well-developed, with Sam and Mel’s sibling dynamic feeling authentic and heartwarming. Their relationship serves as a solid anchor in the midst of all the supernatural chaos.”
“Crabtree: Lost Kids of Borealonon is a fantastic start to the Crabtree series, offering a perfect mix of adventure, magic, and self-discovery. It’s a must-read for fans of fantasy and adventure stories, especially those who enjoy books where the boundaries between worlds blur and the thrill of discovery leads to life-changing realizations. With its engaging characters, lush world-building, and heart-pounding action, this is a series that promises to keep readers coming back for more.”
